Biography

TPNP started in March 2009. At the time I was still doing my goregrind/grindcore one-man-band Vomitous Discharge and I wanted to play some improvised spontaneous noisy and grindy stuff besides the planned and thought out stuff as well.
Always entertained by the wrestler The Rock and his funny phrases about him being the people's champion, his finishing move called the people's elbow etc., I came up with the name The People's Noise Project. It was meant to be a humorous project from the start.

The first recording session "Love Songs for romantic Moments" from March 2009 had an intentionally bad recording quality. Some people really enjoyed this CD-R release and plans for several split releases came shortly after.
During the next recording session in April/May for the "Welcome to Noise Island" 4-way split CD-R with VRV, Whorifik and Psychotic Sufferance I wasted my voice because I thought it would be a good idea to scream around while recording the drums - it was not. Luckily it got better again some weeks afterwards, hehe... Before this release came out I recorded a split CD-R with KZ9 called "What a Shit!!!" in May. Both these releases were recorded in a similar fashion as the very first one and followed the same concept with the shitty sound quality etc.

The next recording in July was for the "Kill the Bastard!" 3-way split CD-R with Radiologist and Exhumed Atrocity, but it took a while (until early 2010) to get released because of the other projects on it.
In the meantime I recorded the "Cannibal Delicacies" split CD-R with ShitFuckingShit in October/November, which was the first recording to have a slightly better recording quality, especially concerning the drums, because I was bored of having a really muddy sound all the time. I also did a spontaneous special release for friends and VBP-supporters in December 2009, the "Happy Birthday, dear Jesus!" 3" CD-R. Then there was another recording for the "Against the Mainstream" 4-way split CD-R with Colico, To Die and Psychotic Sufferance in December 2009 / January 2010. I remember having trouble with the recording device I used for the drums in this last mentioned session, which is why the recording consists of two rather short seperate sessions instead of a single one, like on the other releases.

After this flood of releases in less than a year it got a bit more quiet for some months.
I visited my friend from the Swiss grindcore band Insomnia Isterica in March 2010 and we did an improvised noisecore session together with the other founding member of IAxIA, swapping instruments every couple of tracks. This "Collaborative Shit Session 2010" took a really long time to get released, but it finally came out on CD-R over a year later in April 2011 and turned out great.
When I was also visiting my friend Fabrizio from KZ9 in Italy in March/April 2010, he had the fantastic idea that I could do a Lady Gaga parody with TPNP, with Lady Gag-a instead of just Gag as my name. I really enjoyed this idea and when I was back home I listened to some of her songs for me to know what I would be making fun of, actually. Interestingly, I liked her stuff a lot though and thus the planned parody became a tribute to her. It is in fact not meant to make fun of her and/or her music but a hommage.
"The Noise Fame Monster - a noisecore tribute to Lady Gaga" was recorded in June 2010, along with my material for the "5 Lessons in musical Scatology" 5-way split CD-R with PiG RoT, ShitFuckingShit, Hell Bovine and Bestial Vomit and an additional short track that was supposed to go on a split with my friend from Musikantenstadl Massaker, which unfortunately never happened. This track was finally released on the "Shit Noise 27" compilation CD-R in 2013.

In April 2011 I did another session like the one from the year before with my pals from Insomnia Isterica. This one was finally released as a net-release a bit over three years after recording it, in April 2014.

After some months I wasn't sure if I wanted to go on with TPNP or not, somehow the motivation was lacking a bit, but it came back at a certain point.
In July 2011 I recorded another tribute for a pop singer I like very much, Celine Dion, "My Noise will go on! - a noisecore tribute to Celine Dion", and a track for a 5-way split CD-R with VRV, KZ9, Harsh Supplement and Demonomaniaco!!!, which is the only TPNP release that was not released by my own label Vomit Bucket Productions. Unfortunately, my track sounds quite weird on the final release for some reason with shifting audio volume... If you have it and want the original recording, you can get it on the TPNP bandcamp page.

After this recording session my motivation for TPNP was completely gone once again. My studies got more and more time-demanding and it was getting harder and harder to find the time to record drums, so recording noisecore wasn't the first priority in my head. I was considering stopping the project, but I had the idea to do a third pop-singer tribute for a long time already and when someone told me it would be a pity if TPNP would stop, I suddenly really felt like doing this release after all. "Man! I feel like Noise! - a noisecore tribute to Shania Twain" was then recorded in June 2012 and this was the last TPNP recording.

Until June 2014 :-) After a long period of no motivation (yeah yeah, once again...), I felt like doing something else with TPNP again. "The People's Tape" is a tribute to the DIY-underground and the first TPNP-release on tape (finally...). In my opinion, it's one of the best, if not the best release in the project's discography overall.

In September 2015 I recorded drums for another TPNP session. For reasons I cannot remember anymore I only recorded guitar and bass for this in October 2017... and finally vocals in July 2019. So it took almost 4 years just to do the recording, and another almost 6 years for this session to finally see the light of day. It was supposed to be used for one or two split releases with noisecore bands I like very much, but unfortunately neither of them actually happened, and as time went by I completely forgot about this recording. I finally remembered it in April 2025 and decided to put it out there as a solo release via bandcamp, which finally happened in May 2025.
The release date of "The People's Final Session" also marks the end of TPNP, the project is now over. I look back at the recordings and releases done with a grin on my face, I think it was definitely worth it and a lot of fun creating the releases that are out there. I certainly hope they still manage to make some people smile :-)

Side note: In fact, there's a 3rd collaborative session done with the IAxIA guys that is unreleased so far, done in 2014 if I remember correctly. Perhaps this will still see the light of day at some point, maybe not. It was done without guitar and a bass instead, which is ok but not as powerful as the other two we did, so not sure...

Anyway, officially this is it.
Cheers & beers people!
